The sessions will be held on Sunday 12 June, from 11am to 1pm, and Wednesday 15 June, from 7pm to 9pm at Ewhurst playing fields in Ifield.

Last season, both of the Wasps’ Ladies teams reached their respective Sussex County Cup finals, with the first team taking on Women’s Super League-bound Brighton & Hove Albion in front of almost 300 fans, while the reserves narrowly missed out on promotion.

Paul Walker and Simon Pavey, the respective managers of the first and reserve teams, are keen to build on that success by attracting new players.

“Our ambition is ultimately to advance two divisions to Premier League level, a path pursued by clubs like Lewes and Chichester,” Walker said.

“We’ve got some really talented players at the moment - but the bottom line is we need more.

“We’re very keen to try and attract players from the next level up, as well as talented players from other clubs at our own level.

“What we’re particularly looking for is some experience to add to quite a young crop of players that we’ve got.”

Wasps’ first team play in the London and South East Regional Premier Division - part of the fifth tier of women’s football, alongside the likes of Fulham and Leyton Orient. The reserves play in a division two levels further below.

Walker described what new players would experience when they signed on for Wasps, who last week announced a major sponsorship deal with Thales.

He said: “We’ve got a fantastic team spirit, a management team inspired by the players and a club that is incredibly well run and has ambition.

“It’s a very exciting time to come to Crawley Wasps.”
