Wasps ready for Plymouth test after difficult new lockdown

Wasps face Plymouth Argyle in the FA Women’s National League on Sunday (December 13), six weeks after beating Portsmouth in their last match.

Kick off at Horley Town’s New Defence ground is 2pm. Tickets are only available online, with no cash or card entry at the gate.

Writing in the programme for the match, Cole says she and her team-mates are making the most of every single training session now they are back on the grass.

“Lockdown for us as a team was difficult,” she admitted. “We have built an extremely close bond through the previous fixtures so to have football taken away was hard.

“However the commitment and hard work every player has put into their individual programs, to stay fit and sharp, has shown and I’m proud of them for that. The last week of training has been intense on a number of fronts, but it’s brought that hunger back for us all.

“We’re all driven winners and we now appreciate each game and session wholeheartedly.”

Cole said she was looking forward to seeing fellow midfielders Charlotte Owen and Amy Green in contention for the first time this season.

“Charlotte is fit again for the first time since pre-season, and she will bring creativity and quality to the attack. Amy Green is balancing work and football so we’re fortunate to have her talent when available.

“Also Lottie Turner has stepped into first-team training recently – she is an exciting young prospect who is always developing.”
