Joe Piggott’s headed opener was cancelled out by Nadesan’s chip, with Max Watters blasting in the winner from close-range.

Nadesan was pleased with his team’s performance today against League One opposition. “Tough game, we came here fully prepared, we matched them shape-for-shape and we gave them a battle," he said. "We needed to bounce back from two league defeats and I thought we did that in style today.”

Sesay was delighted to be in the hat for the third round, as he enjoyed the occasion today.

He said “It was good fun, actually. It was a tough game, but that’s the way we like it, that’s what the cup’s all about. We’re buzzing to get into the third round, it was a big game, a tough game but we stuck together and got a result.”

Nadesan’s signature chip levelled the score for the Reds, as he hopes his side can kick on in the league following today’s win: “I haven’t done one (chip) this year so I needed to bring that back! I’m buzzing for Max getting another goal, he’s really starting to shine since he’s been here and hopefully it’ll continue onto Tuesday.”

Crawley fell behind to Torquay in the first round of the FA Cup but came back to win, and Sesay says that fighting spirit was needed again today: “We never try to get disheartened from conceding.

"As soon as they scored we were back on top of the game and we knew that goals were coming so we had to stay positive, and luckily Nadders got the chip. I saw him running through and I was like ‘is he gonna do it?’ and he did it! It got us back into the game and then a brilliant goal in the second half wins us the game so we always had the belief we were going to come back and win the game.”

Nadesan suggested that anyone of his players could’ve been man-of-the-match today: “No-one put a foot wrong today. We dug deep for each other, everyone was putting in a shift and we were ready to die on the battlefield out there today just to get through and see who we get tomorrow in the draw.”

Sesay also noted the importance for his team to stay fit ahead of a busy winter of football: “We’ve got a game in two days.

"We’ve got to go and rest, eat properly, go again and try and get a result away at Colchester, and straight back at it again on Saturday at Mansfield. We love playing, so a lot of games is what it’s about, and we’re up for all of them.”
