Golden wonder at gala

WORTHING Swimming Club had successes to be proud of when it took part in the first competition of the new season.

The Sussex County Relay Gala, held at the Sovereign Centre in Eastbourne, saw a squad from Worthing totalling 16 teams and representing the complete range of ages from nine years old upward entering the competition.

More than 180 teams were out in force from all the top clubs in Sussex.

The boys' nine-to-10-year-old 200m medley team of Joshua Urben, Ben Goddard, Greg Earls and Harry Burnell reaching the event final. The same team later swam their way into the 4x50m freestyle final and came fifth.
