Chichester golf veterans rediscover their competitive side

Chichester Golf Club veterans’ captain Colin Westwood was pleased to re- start the summer season on a warm sunny day with the first vets’ section competitive round on the Cathedral course for many months.

His playing partners Bill Martin and George Bell were part of a strong field of 56 who turned out to see if handicaps had survived the lockdown.

There were ups and downs but a third of the entrants played to their handicap or better.

A special well done went to Martin Bushby, overall winner with 42 points, cfollowed by Brian Burn with 41 and victor of the two-three category, and Richard Holden with 39 coming second in category four.

Everyone complied with social distancing but there was joy in just taking part in a competitive round.
