Lady captain Christine Knight said: “I was delighted that so many of the Ladies’ section were able to join me on my Captain’s Day, some even taking time off work to be there!

“Unfortunately, the date coincided with the SCLGA Jerdein Salver competition being held at Eastbourne Downs, so Meg Mitchell and Angela Whittington, two of my regular ladies were there representing Cottesmore and obviously, couldn’t be in two places at once.

“I was pleased with how smoothly the day ran and from kind comments afterwards, I’m confident everyone enjoyed their day. The weather was good, the course was in fantastic condition and the catering staff provided a wonderful buffet afterwards.

“My husband, as starter, and my mother-in-law, with refreshments at the ‘half-way house’, were a great help to me.

“Members of my committee decorated a golf buggy with paper flowers in the club colours of pink and blue and this ‘chariot’ was a special bonus to what was already a very special day.”

Results from the day are:

1st overall with an incredible 45 points, Jill Lewis

2nd Gail Fee with an excellent 41 points

3rd Julie Lintern on count back from Heather Skinner with 40 points
