ONE DOWN '” four to go. Worthing twice came from behind to overcome third-placed London Scottish in their task of winning their remaining four matches to become champions.

Neck-and-neck rivals Cambridge stayed level on points but cut Worthing's points difference advantage over them from 76 to 48 when they beat Thanet Wanderers 54-17.

Worthing's run-in: Thanet Wanderers (away, March 12), London Nigerians (home, April 2), Old Albanians (away, April 9), and Canterbury (home, April 23).

It should go to the wire. Canterbury will come to Worthing tipped off about them by Cambridge from a fortnight earlier but the Kent side crashed to a shock 33-0 defeat at Richmond on Saturday.

First place is automatic promotion. Runners-up means playing off against South West 1 runners-up.

Worthing's Sussex Trophy defending quarter-final at two-divisions-below Brighton was in doubt this week. Brighton must first play their postponed league game at Folkestone on Saturday.
