It's a late show by Golds

LITTLEHAMPTON FC ended their eight-game losing run with two goals in the last 11 minutes to draw at Worthing United on Saturday.

United have had too many players red-carded this season, which is surely a major contributory factor to their lowly league position. In five of their last seven matches, they have had a player dismissed.

In the crucial basement battle, United once again shot themselves in the foot and had to limp through the last 75 minutes with only 10 men. This they did bravely until the closing stages when the handicap became too great. But player-manager Paul Curtis could have nothing but pride in his team's effort and commitment.

On a cold, blustery day there was not very much skill in evidence, but enough incident to keep the spectators buzzing. Danny Azimi's smartly taken goal gave United the early advantage, but this was made to look highly tenuous with Sam Figg's dismissal.

Keeper Figg handled outside his area in checking an attack by Bruno Costa, and the referee had no option. United took off the unlucky Tom Shelley to allow on substitute goalie Richard Branson, who immediately impressed with his confident handling.
