IVORY LACE SCORES 12TH VICTORY

EAST Lavant trainer Steve Woodman has a cracking mare in six-year-old Ivory Lace, who won the 12th race of her career at the recent Goodwood meeting.

She is certainly the star of his stable, with a blistering speed on fast ground '“ and is usually sent off at unbelievably long odds.

Last week she was returned at 12-1, to the amazement of her supporters, for conditions were ideal for her and she clearly enjoys the course.

A half-sister to three five-furlong winners, Ivory Lace has raced mainly over seven furlongs this season.

Last month she won at Newmarket on the July course, where Woodman reckoned he had not been for 30 years.

She had two thirds in July, when the ground was softer than she likes, and in June she won at Goodwood and Lingfield.

Ivory Lace has been excellent value. Her handler claimed her at Lingfield in February 2004 and she has accrued 64,000 prize money, with 12 wins and 17 places.
