Crawley boxing champion Ben ‘Duracell’ Jones will be fighting on Saturday, February 27 at York Hall boxing venue in Bethnal London.
Jones’ manager Kaz Evans of Assassin Promotions said: “Ben is itching to get back in the ring in what will be a huge year for the champ and all around him.
“We’ve been working hard to get the right fight sorted for him in build-up to his WBO title defence and a potential shot at a world title, and this London show ticked all the right boxes to assist on his preparation.”
Jones thanked the help of new sponsor Alfie Best, owner of Wyldecrest Parks who is now backing Jones as he prepares for a year which will hopefully feature some major title fights.
He said: “It’s great to have Alfie on board and I’d like to thank him for sponsoring me.”
Jones hopes his next fight will lead to a major show in Crawley at one of a few venues being considered.
One of them could involve using a huge tent in Southgate.
Jones said: “Using Southgate Playing Fields as a boxing venue could work well and be really special. It would be great for the town of Crawley!”
Jones enjoyed a great year in 2015, winning five fights culminating in him lfting the WBO Inter-Continental Featherweight title by beating the Prague-based Martin Parlagi on points over ten rounds.
It was a tremendous turn around from the lowpoint of 2014-14 when he suffered two successive controversial defeats against Spaniards Julie Giner in Barcelona and Santiago Bustos at Bluewater in Kent.
This fight is a warm-up fight for a possible show to be held in Crawley in April at a venue to to be confirmed when he will defend his WBO Inter-Continental Featherweight title in front of his home fans.
Jones’ marketing and sponsorship manager Graham Wright said: “Ben is back in full training to keep his weight down and build his ranking points ready for his title defence in Crawley.”
Tickets are on sale from Wright priced £35, £60 and £100 VIP package from Graham on: 07944072696.
