Crawley Boxing Club opened its doors for a visit from the First Northgate Cubs who were working towards their fitness challenge badges.
A total of 25 boys and girls aged 8-10 got to experience all elements of boxing training (without getting punched!) in a fun filled 90 minute session.
Coaches Peter Hopcraft and Scott Watkins, assisted by junior boxers Matarr Wanda and Jay Watkins showed them the ‘ropes’.
After a warm-up the children were shown stance, guard and some basic punches, then split into groups they skipped, shadow boxed and got the gloves on to punch bags.
A good night’s sleep was ensured as the end of the session as a full exercise circuit was also included.
Cub leaders Stefan Bolin and Lisa Paine said that he children gained enormous benefit from the evening and hoped to arrange a repeat visit in the future.
Boxing coach Peter Hopcraft suggested that some of the children might want to come back sooner rather than later.
The Boxing Club’s Nursery class is held every Saturday morning for children aged 8-10 years at 10am for an hour.
The first session is free and after that subs are only £3 per session. All are welcome.
