Kent/Sussex Regional League Division 2
Brighton II 2 Crawley 3
Crawley rose to the top of the league when they beat existing leaders Brighton.
Adrian Bettesworth found himself unmarked to put the ball into the empty net.
Seb Watson hit a post off a bouncing ball on the left of the circle.
Brighton received a stroke of luck on the half-time whistle when the whistle was blown for a short corner and Brighton managed to work the short corner past Westwood and level the game at 1-1 at half-time.
Seb Watson was denied from the penalty spot by Brighton’s keeper who made a remarkable flipped save.
Alex Watson won a free-hit and took it quickly finding his brother wide open and he in turn found a wide open Kieran Fuller to give Crawley a 2-1 lead with a tap-in.
A third soon followed as Fuller looked to play the Ball back across the area on his reverse stick and it was diverted into the goal by the Brighton ‘keeper to make it 3-1.
Brighton to their credit rallied and with Crawley getting tired and sitting deeper and deeper Brighton had more and more possession, but the Crawley defence of Mark Brightwell, Baz Ahmedi and Bettesworth had it under control every time an attacker broke free.
There was time for Rob Gate (delaying game) and Steve Innes (big hit) to be sent to the sin-bin.
Brighton had resorted to a crash ball in to the circle and they managed to get a touch on one of them to make it 3-2.
But with time running out Brighton became indisciplined and ended the match with three players in the sin-bin allowing Crawley to see the game out and take a big win.
