Crawley captain Alex Watson prasied their second half display but admitted they were slow to get going in the first half.

He said: “This was not a good start to the game from us we were far to complacent early on.

“You have to give them credit they drew up a decent game plan and we could not break them down in the first half.

“Second half we were much better moving the ball faster supporting each other more. These are the games you have to win in order to try to win a league.”

Worthing took the lead from away a reverse stick shot away which went in to make it 1-0 Worthing.

Worthing were very well organised and played very deep defensibly stifling the Crawley midfield and forwards.

Worthing looked to play most of their hockey on the break which was working for them and they added to their lead when the ball broke free after a defensive hesitation in the Crawley ranks which made it 2-0 Worthing.

They needed to get a job done and with Worthing down to 10-men through a sin binning this made them drop even deeper meaning the half finished 2-0.

The second half started much better with Crawley flying around the pitch putting a lot of pressure on the Worthing players every time they got on the ball and this started to mean they made mistakes.

But with the pressure building the visitors had a couple of sin bins which they could have down without as Alex Watson and then Maccaoilte went to the sin bin.

However Crawley regrouped and after a barrage of short corners which would not go in the breakthrough came with Reece Banton making good progress down the left wing finding Seb Watson who squared to Innes to smash into an empty goal.

This was soon followed by the equaliser as Crawley turned up the pressure Worthing started to crack and Carl Wright took advantage to tie the game up at 2-2. A short corner found Innes unmarked to put the ball into the goal for a 3-2 victory.

Crawley travel to Holcombe on Saturday and are then at home to Ludlow in the cup, kick-off at Hazelwick School on Sunday at 1pm.
