Crawley boxer Ben Jones still went ahead with his post-fight party even though his scheduled warm-up fight in Bournemouth fell through.
His Hungarian opponent, believed to be ranked No.1 in his country, did not fly to England, leaving Jones and his paying fans without a fight.
Jones was aiming to sharpen up for his European title fight in July.
Jones still went with his after-fight party with 60 of his closest friends and family.
He said: “I only found out at the weigh-in the day before he was not there and thought he would appear on the day. No explanation was given but I guess he didn’t fancy facing me!”
Jones has another warm-up fight arrnaged for May 29 at York Hall.
Local boxing fans have the chance to see Crawley talent on show this Friday night at the Crawley BC’s annual show at Felbridge Hotel near East Grinstead.
