Crawley Saints and Sinners Running Club held their third learn-to-run group complete their ten-week zero to 5k programme.
The scheme ended with all 18 members of their scheme graduating after completing the Tilgate parkrun 5k.
It was a glorious day and the sun came out.
The whole club got behind the graduates, everyone of them had a running buddy to help them around, the other club members turned up to support and cheer them on and laid on the traditional cakes for celebrations after.
The club now has three dedicated learn-to-run leaders and they have now helped over 50 non-runners achieve their dream of running 5k,
Although they all graduated on Saturday their journey does not stop there as they will now join in the main club’s training sessions and go on to run for the club in the West Sussex fun run league.
Their next learn-to-run group will start again in early spring and amazingly they have already received a lot of interest in this, it seems Crawley residents just want to run.
The club have announced that they are the new race organisers of the St Leonard’s Church, Turners Hill Boxing Day race.
This race is a must for many over the festive period attracting locals and runners from all over Sussex and Surrey.
As with previous years all proceeds made from the race will go towards the upkeep of St Leonard’s Church.
