Crawley Swimming Club gave a superb performance in the final of the National Arena Swimming League Final, coming second and gaining promotion into the Premier League next year.
Six clubs from Croydon, Brighton, Horsham, Hastings & London gathered together in Brighton on Saturday 13th December 2014 to Compete in the Final of the National Swimming League.
With the top two clubs being promoted to the premier division it was always going to be a competitive and closely fought affair. The first race of the night started of well for Crawley with Federica Williamson taking victory in the Women’s 200 Individual Medley. Wins from the 4 x 50 9/11 year old Boys Freestyle consisting of Daryn De Klerk, Sergio Moscarello, Sebastian Deacon-Jackson & Owen Peel. the 4 x 50 13/under Girls Medley Relay consisting of Freya Hopkins, Erin Leachman, Isabella Rose Berlin & Lilly Turner and the Women’s Open 4 x 50 Medley relay consisting of Jordon Sturt, Federica Williamson, Daisy Marchant & Zara Williams gave Crawley a 3 point lead over Hastings after 10 races. The next 8 races was a tight tussle but wins from Isabell Rose Berlin in the 13 & Under’s Girls 100 Breaststroke and Martin Schofield in the boys 15 & under 100 Backstroke kept Crawley in the hunt Lying 2 points behind Atlantis SC.
Crawley continued to fight not letting Atlantis gain to much of an Advantage wins from Jordon Sturt Women’s 100 Backstroke, Jamie Scutt 10/11 years Boys 50 Breaststroke, Federica Williamson with her second win of the night in the Women’s 100 Breaststroke and Zara Williams in the Women’s 100 Freestyle could not bridge the points gap finishing the gala 19 points behind.
Final Points were:
Atlantis 212, Crawley 193, Brighton 187, Croydon 163, Hastings 162 & Black Lion 128.
A closely fought competition with a result that should make Crawley proud gaining them promotion into the Premier League next year, another sign of their overall improvement into top flight swimming in the region.
