Nostalgia: Metal Box FC success

MEDALS in hand, these young footballers had every reason to look chuffed as they had just won the Charlwood Charity Cup.

These pictures were sent in by Bob Rashbrook and show the men of Metal Box Football Club.

In the first picture of the winning team, Bob’s brother-in-law Roy Soper is kneeling on the far left, next to him is Eddie Holmwood.

Far right kneeling is Tony Read and next to him is Terry Parrott.

Does anyone know in which year the picture was taken and if any of these players went on to play at a higher level?

Are any of the Metal Box winning team still in Crawley?
