Rescuer needs rescuing

SHOESTRING Horse Rescue, founded 21 years ago by Jenny Bindon of Arundel, still provides a vital role in rescuing horses and ponies '“ but needs an injection of help and donations.

Jenny always had a childhood ambition to provide a home for unwanted horses, ever since she discovered the old horse which pulled a milkman's cart near her home was to be put down because no home could be found for her.

Her first two rescues 21 years ago were ex-riding school ponies which lived with her for several years.

"Then others just kept coming!" said Jenny. Most of them lived to a good age, with Sonny Boy, a Thoroughbred x Connemara gelding who lived until he was 32, and Sweep, an Arab x Connemara gelding who was with Jenny for 15 years, until he died at the age of 30. Dolly, a piebald gypsy mare lived to be 38, Fly, an Arab stallion until 35, as did Tiggies a Fell gelding.

She urgently needs help from someone with a petrol strimmer to enable her fields to be kept in good condition and also relies on donations to keep going.

She can be contacted about either on 01903 883428
