Crawley Town terminated Richie Barker’s contract tonight and it’s Cotterill who leads the early betting at 7/4.

Other names in the running include Steve Coppell (9/2), Justin Edinburgh (8/1), Neil Warnock (12/1) and Ian Holloway (16/1). Controversial ex-Swindon Town and Sunderland boss Paolo Di Canio is an outsider at 28/1.

Barker is now the red-hot favourite to take over from Guy Whittingham at Fratton Park, with some bookies giving him odds as short as 1/5.

The former Bury boss led the club to tenth in their first season in League One last term and leaves Reds in 12th position.

His exit leaves Crawley Town seeking their fifth manager in the last 20 months.
