Harrold, who took over as caretaker boss for the Reds last game of the season against Mansfield Town, is now 4/5 with BetVictor to take over the role full-time.

Yesterday we reported that former Chelsea striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink was favourite at 7/1.

But now Harrold is favourite ahead of Hasselbaink, Omer Riza, Dean Austin, Andy Hessenthaler, Jay Saunders, Luke Garrard, Brian McDermott, Martin Allen and Chris Kinnear, who are all 12/1.

In an exclusive interview with the Crawley Observer last week, owner Ziya Eren he said: "The manager I appoint has to be successful. I will make sure that will happen and that's my aim. "My main aim or priority is someone who actually knows the club and has the club in their heart.

"It could be an ex-player and it's someone who is young, someone who is active on the touchline.

"Someone who I believe will be successful or has been successful. "There are six to seven people - I will not just appoint the first person. I want to speak to all the candidates."
