Young agrees terms with Crawley Town with Harrold '˜really close'

Lewis Young has agreed terms for the new season with Crawley Town, with the club '˜really close' to new a deal with striker Matt Harrold.

At today’s media briefing, boss Dermot Drummy revealed they club are ‘really close’ to agreeing a new contract with Harrold, while Young is a done deal.

Out-of-contract Young, 26, made 41 appearances last season while 31-year-old Harrold, featured 39 times and scored nine goals.

The head coach also revealed that the final two from last season’s team Lanre Oyebanjo and Jon Ashton will be assessed in pre-season as to whether they will be offered new deals, due to their injury concerns

Oyebanjo, 26, made just seven appearances last season due to a troublesome knee injury, while Ashton, 33, also missed a big chunk of the campaign due to a similar issues.

Drummy said: “Lewis Young has agreed, but hasn’t signed yet. He has agreed terms and we are going to meet up and sign him so I am really pleased on that.

“Matt Harrold is really close, we are really close to agreeing with Matt. Hopefully, we can get that over the line by next wee. We are very positive.

“Lanre is at the under the medical team, with his knee, so we are assessing him when he comes back for pre-season. We will assess how he is until we reserve judgement.

“My words were to him, come back fit and I will look at you in pre-season. I don’t want to say too much until I have seen him train.

“Jon Ashton is exactly the same scenario.”
