Sidley slump to foot of table

SIDLEY have slumped to the foot of the Sussex Cricket League after crashing to a heavy defeat against St James' Montefiore.

The visitors were shot out 134 as Kris Johnson (4-35) and Zeuben Bhettay (3-39) caused all sorts of problems with the ball. In reply, Richard Allum made 45 and Ed Hart 38 not out as Saints cruised to 135-4.

This defeat, plus Pulborough's surprise success over Haywards Heath, saw the Gullivers outfit slip to rock bottom in Division Two.

Bexhill contested an entertaining draw at the Polegrove in which the home side finished six runs short of victory and visitors Lewes Priory claimed nine wickets.

Lewes declared on 231-7 with Nick Walters hitting 63 and James Chetwood 62. Chris Topp was the pick of the Bexhill bowlers with 6-85. In reply, Richard May struck 57 and veteran Lewes bowler Ian Newman claimed 4-48 as Bexhill ended the day on 226-9.
