SIDLEY STILL IN PROMOTION HUNT

SIDLEY Cricket Club captain Scott Woodroffe confessed that his side would have been ruled out of the promotion hunt had they lost to Preston Nomads last weekend.

A stolid eighth wicket stand between Ian Phillips and Paul Matthews eased them to the safety of a draw but the gap to the second promotion spot widened to 38 points leaving them with an identical scenario going into a crunch battle at Littlehampton tomorrow (Saturday).

Woodroffe said: "We definitely could not have afforded to have lost on Saturday but it was a good points haul for us. We should still be within touching distance of third place and it's only going to take a couple of wins. We are right back in there if we put a couple of wins together.

"Littlehampton are right up there but we have already seen them off once this year. We are well capable of winning that game. They won't really be looking forward to playing us and Imran. It's probably our biggest game of the season."

Tyrone Wildman (work) is doubtful while Chris Deeprose (work) is definitely out. Wes Tate may deputise.
