Speedway ace makes Eagles league debut

LEWIS Bridger has made his debut at the highest level of domestic speedway racing at just 16 years of age.

The Bexhill-based hot property rode for the Eastbourne Eagles in their 2006 Elite League season opener at Belle Vue on Monday night.

He achieved a three-point haul, which comprised a second place finish in the awarded heat two and third place in race eight, during The Eagles' 42-48 defeat.

Bridger also registered a three-point performance on his home Eagles debut during the 51-39 win over Arena Essex on Saturday.

He picked up one point in the first leg of the Challenge tie against the Purfleet-based club which ended in a 37-57 reverse the previous night.
