Summerfields hosts judo bonanza

Freedom Leisure Summerfields will play host to the Multi National Judo Championships tomorrow (Saturday).

More than 220 competitors will descend upon the Bohemia Road venue from as far and wide as Holland, Poland, Germany, France, Scotland, England, Ireland and Lithuania.

Paul Norris, centre manager at Freedom Leisure Summerfields, said: "We're really excited to be holding the Multi National Judo Championships here at Summerfields.

"We've hosted many large special events so I'm sure the 220 competitors will feel right at home. We look forward to welcoming the different nations and seeing who comes out on top during the competition."

The event is being organised by Martin Clarke, International Budo Federation Great Britain president and 8th Dan, who will perform the official welcome at 10.15am.

Martin felt that Freedom Leisure Summerfields would be ideal to host the international event after being impressed with what he saw during a look around the facilities.
