TABLE TENNIS: Horsham crowned British League champions
Horsham Table Tennis Club are the new Senior British League champions.
They realised their dream of gaining promotion to Division 1 in style by winning their last four matches at Fareham.
Swedish stars Emil Ohlsson and Fredrik Nilsson flew in from Malmo and combined with Dan Barna, Peter Bartram and Vinal Patel to win the Division 2 title.
Ohlsson, 17, is currently ranked No4 among Sweden’s juniors. He provided the perfect boost to the team which had finished second last year.
Emil won 8/8 including the revenge scalping of Darren Reed who is No.33 on the England men’s list during their 5-3 victory over Team Cornwall in the top of the table clash.
Nilsson also produced a perfect return winning 4/4 while veteran Peter Bartram was ultra reliable in winning 5/6. Playing at this level for the first time this season Vinal Patel did really well to win 4/5.
