They realised their dream of gaining promotion to Division 1 in style by winning their last four matches at Fareham.

Swedish stars Emil Ohlsson and Fredrik Nilsson flew in from Malmo and combined with Dan Barna, Peter Bartram and Vinal Patel to win the Division 2 title.

Ohlsson, 17, is currently ranked No4 among Sweden’s juniors. He provided the perfect boost to the team which had finished second last year.

Emil won 8/8 including the revenge scalping of Darren Reed who is No.33 on the England men’s list during their 5-3 victory over Team Cornwall in the top of the table clash.

Nilsson also produced a perfect return winning 4/4 while veteran Peter Bartram was ultra reliable in winning 5/6. Playing at this level for the first time this season Vinal Patel did really well to win 4/5.

Horsham were named champions at the end of Saturday’s play after Cornwall suffered a shock defeat. Horsham remained unbeaten throughout the 14-match campaign with 13 wins and one draw and finished eight points clear of second-placed Team Cornwall.

Results: Horsham 8 Bedford 0, Horsham 6 Ashford 2, Horsham 5 Team Cornwall 3. Horsham 6 Mossford 2

Erik Van Mol was Man of the Match for Horsham second team who gained their first win of the season in Division 3 South in beating Urban 5-3. He triumphed 14-12 in the fifth to win the decisive final match. Steve Barby won 6/8 on his debut.
