More than 400 entries were made into the British Tennis Tour Event and the Sussex Open Tennis Championships held at the West Worthing Tennis & Squash Club, Titnore Way, Worthing.

Despite the appalling weather conditions, all the competitions were successfully completed using the grass, hard and indoor tennis courts.

In the Men's British Tour event the first and second seeds, both with world ranking, were defeated at the quarter- final stage. Matthew Leahy (Surrey) won the Men's Singles Title beating Harry Skinner (Middlesex) 7.6 (1) 6.1 in the final.
