Unbeaten start ended by leaders

Hastings United's unbeaten start to the season came to an end amid late drama on Tuesday night.

The U's lost 3-2 at home to Ryman Football League Premier Division leaders Sutton United after a valiant second half fightback.

Sutton, who came into the game without having conceded a goal, were two-up at half time and the match looked up for Hastings when they added a third after the break.

But after Ade Olorunda struck the crossbar, Sean Ray got Hastings on the scoresheet and the comeback looked on when Olorunda netted to make it 3-2.

Hastings thought they had salvaged a remarkable point deep into stoppage time only for Jamie Cade's effort to be disallowed for offside.

Elsewhere, Sidley United lost 2-0 away to Hailsham Town in Division One of the Sussex County League.

Second half goals from Ben Putland and Jamie Salvidge condemned the Blues to their third defeat at The Beaconsfield this season and second in the space of three days.
