Goodwoof: all you need to have a fun-packed day out with your dog in the wonderful surroundings of Goodwood

There is a wealth of canine-centred events to enjoy at Goodwoof this year – as well as plenty to entertain their owners. Here are some highlights of what’s happening on May 20 and 21

The beautiful fields surrounding The Kennels on the Goodwood Estate are the perfect setting for loads of fun.

Barkitecture

All animals need a good home and there is a vast array of kennels to admire, all designed by world-class architects. Every consideration for dogs has been made and an auction of the kennels will see money raised go to Goodwoof’s official charity, Pets as Therapy. Presented by Mastercard.

The Studio

This is a place for you and your pet to enjoy some chill out time. Everything from DOGA (dog yoga) to reiki, dog massage to sound bathing is on offer. Note: sessions run all day and are all included in the price of your ticket. Presented by Randox Health.

Field and Trail area

Time for some doggy fun amid the rolling hills of Goodwood Park. The Field and Trail area has brilliant demonstrations from top-class sheep and gundogs and for your own furry friend there is a new off-lead paddock where you can let your dog play and run free. Presented by Bentley.

Have-a-go area

Allow your dog to learn new tricks from a team of kind and patient experts. This can include hurdles, agility and much more, guaranteed to keep them entertained. At the end, you will have a new way to show how special your dog really is. No need to pre-book and all activities are available free of charge.

Action Sports

This is the big arena event. Action Sports has a packed schedule of displays, making it a Goodwoof favourite. The different shows through the day mean you will return again and again. New for this year is your chance to join in the fun when the arena is turned into a dog disco.

Literary Corner

Perfectly situated in a shady corner near the Taittinger Champagne Bar, Literary Corner has the ability to soothe. Enjoy readings from well-known faces, talks from modern behaviourists, and demonstrations from award-winning artists. There is also a bookshop and author signings.

Wellness Centre and Wellness Stage

Presented by MARS Petcare. A one-stop shop offers to talk to an expert and get advice from vets, canine nutritionists, behaviourists and canine body language experts. You can even have a dog DNA test. The events run over both days.

Fido’s Lido

Presented by Leaps and Bounds. Let your dogs splash about and be happy in a giant pool where pets of all sizes can hang out and cool down in the Field and Trail area.

Chien Charmant

This competition Chien Charmant will honour the most charismatic and charming dog/human partnerships. Characterised by cool with an easy affinity and effortless allure, Chien Charmant entries will be carefully shortlisted, with an eye for personality and elegance. The competition will take place each day.

Fastest Dog

Presented by DHL. Always a crowd pleaser – the 50m sprint will test the speed and agility of your dog. Open each day with a live leader-board. This is so popular, additional lanes have been added for every dog, in different sized categories.
