Seaford father and daughter release NHS fund-raising single

Solarbirds are a rock/alternative/pop group formed during lockdown 2020. Every evening, once the home-schooling was complete and daily exercise safely smashed, Chris Howley and ten-year-old daughter Summer wrote and recorded their pop song Garden Party from their front room.

Inspired by their time at home and looking forward to a brighter future where the family adventures can start to return, the two have set their sights on using their single to create some summer-time vibes as well as raise money for the NHS.

Chris said: “Summer has always wanted to get involved in music production, follow in my footsteps and release a single. What better time than in lockdown to make the most of that family time and spread a little hope together in producing a great sounding track in aid of a superb cause: our NHS”.

Garden Party is due for release in all major online download outlets and Spotify on June 15.

To support the NHS Charities Together cause the duo have also started a JustGiving fundraiser offering the single as a free download in return for donations via https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/solarbirdsChris added: “It’s been a fun experience and a welcome distraction from the difficult situation we’ve found ourselves in during lockdown with home-schooling and watching the terrible circumstances people are dealing with around the nation and the wider world. I’m sure everyone can resonate with the daily grind of wake-up, breakfast, Joe-Wicks, home-school, chores, escape for a daily walk, cook dinner and then collapse exhausted. We just added a recording session on at the end each night and powered through! There’s nothing coffee (me) and tangfastics (Summer and I!) can’t get you through! Compared to what our frontline keyworkers are facing our situation is a dream and we are so thankful to them all for working in the face of such risk and adversity.

“I previously played in a rock band that toured the UK and I remember how difficult it was to leave Summer for weeks to tour. This time around we’ve been able to work on a track together and have some fun.”
