Victoria Dilly The Book Activist is organising a writing competition for children as part of the Lindfield Arts Festival (September 17-18).
Kids aged 7-13 can write a story or poem about a train or trains to celebrate the railway coming to Haywards Heath 175 years ago.
The prize is a selection of books written and signed by the authors attending the festival.
The High Sheriff of West Sussex will be presenting the prizes at the end of the day.
The judging panel includes The Book Activist Victoria Dilly, Inkpots founder Gill Pawley and festival trustee Marian Cameron.
Entries must be received on or before September 1.
Short stories must be between 500-1500 words and poems must be no longer than 40 lines.
Email entries to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Entries can be written by hand, but must be scanned and emailed in.
Please make sure the subject of the email states ‘WRITING COMPETITION’.
Entries not adhering to the rules and requirements will be disqualified.
