A feel-good concert that celebrates great female singer-songwriters is coming to The Capitol, Horsham.
The First Ladies of Song takes place on Friday, February 5 (7.30pm).
This exceptional evening of timeless pop classics is performed with passion by an outstanding vocal duo, Mary Carewe and Mae McKenna.
They are accompanied by their fabulous band of hand-picked studio musicians.
Audiences can look forward to an evening of wonderful music-making by world-class artistes with a programme including many all-time favourite songs.
The show pays tribute to Carole King (‘Will You Love Me Tomorrow’, ‘You’ve Got A Friend’), Joni Mitchell (‘Big Yellow Taxi’, ‘Both Sides Now’), Joan Baez (‘Diamonds and Rust’), Carly Simon (‘You’re So Vain’), Annie Lennox (‘Sweet Dreams’), Joan Armatrading (‘Love and Affection’), Dolly Parton (‘9 to 5’, ‘Jolene’) and many more.
Mary Carewe has performed as a soloist with ensembles such as the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at iconic venues, including the Royal Albert Hall and New York’s Carnegie Hall.
Alongside more than 75 appearances on BBC Radio 2’s Friday Night Is Music Night programme, she has recorded many CDs of film, musical theatre and pop songs for a variety of record labels, as well as releasing two solo discs.
A popular singer-songwriter with six solo albums, Mae McKenna has also featured as a soloist on numerous hit records and film scores (Harry Potter, Nanny McPhee).
Her vocal contributions include thousands of studio tracks by the likes of Annie Lennox, Michael Jackson, Donna Summer, Kylie Minogue, Manic Street Preachers, Ian Dury and the Blockheads, ABC, Ronan Keating, Blur, Westlife and Sting.
