Rush hour train changes: Southern Rail release list of alternative routes

This morning (Monday May 18) saw the first day of major changes to Brighton to Victoria rush hour train services as Southern Rail’s new timetable came into affect.

The rail service provider has made hundreds of changes which aim to ‘improve performance’.

There have been alterations to the 7.29am Brighton to London Victoria service which will now arrive three minutes later and no longer stops at Wivelsfield station.

Changes to the 6.56am to Victoria will also see the service starting at Gatwick Airport instead of Brighton.

Southern Rail have released a list of alternative services which they recommend commuters use.

They are as follows:

Brighton to London Victoria

06:29 which will call at Burgess Hill (06:40), Wivelsfield (06:43) and Haywards Heath (06:50).

06:40 which will call at Preston Park (06:44), Hassocks (06:52), Burgess Hill (06:56) and Haywards Heath (07:03).

06:46 which will call at Preston Park (06:50), Burgess Hill (07:00) and Haywards Heath (07:06).

Brighton to Bedford

06:57 Brighton to Bedford (change at East Croydon for London Victoria) which will call at Preston Park (07:01), Hassocks (07:08), Burgess Hill (07:12), Wivelsfield (07:15), Haywards Heath (07:20), Balcombe (07:25), Three Bridges (07:34), Gatwick Airport (07:39), East Croydon (07:53), Blackfriars (08:20), plus other Thameslink London stations.

London Victoria to Brighton

18:30 which will call at Clapham Junction (18:37), East Croydon (18:48), Haywards Heath (19:12), Wivelsfield (19:17), Burgess Hill (19:20), Preston Park (19:29) and Brighton (19:37).

18:44 which will call at Gatwick Airport (19:14), Haywards Heath (19:30) and Hassocks (19:39).
