A-levels: '˜Outstanding achievement' by Thomas Bennett

School leaders have called Thomas Bennett Community College's 98 per cent A-level pass rate an 'outstanding achievement for our community'.

Head of school Pauline Montalto and head of sixth form Shouvick Ghosh, issued a joint statement after students picked up their results this morning (August 18).

They said: “We are absolutely delighted with another excellent set of Post 16 results.

“We have consistently achieved a good pass rate for A-level – this year’s A-E pass rate is 98 per cent.”

Bonnie Liu (English, law, psychology, extended project), Shafeeqa Mansoor Ali (maths, physics, extended project), Alice Gledhill (media studies, English, communication and culture, extended project), Keleigh Wood (English, history, politics, extended project), Owain Williams (business studies, economics, maths) and Taylor Church (English, law, psychology) all earned excellent grades.

Charlotte Simmons (biology, chemistry, maths, English, extended project), Kate Demol (English, history, politics), Grace Davies (English, history, politics, Spanish), Laiba Malik (English, law, politics, extended project), and Luke Scaife (business studies, English, history, ICT) all earned excellent grades at AS-level.

Ms Montalto also praised the 100 per cent pass rate of the school’s vocational students, which saw a “significant increase” in the number of students achieving merits and distinctions.

In the extended project qualification (EPQ), 36 per cent earned A*-A grades, 64 per cent earned A*-B and 100 per cent earned A*-D.

There was also an “outstanding pass rate” at the school’s football academy.

Ms Montalto said Thomas Bennett had gone from “strength to strength” and praised the progress made by many students over the past few years.

She added: “As a result of their efforts students who applied for university courses have been very successful in achieving the entry requirements.

“Others been very successful in securing apprenticeships and full time employment.

“We wish all our leavers the very best of luck as they move on.

“An outstanding achievement for our community – congratulations to all on their hard work and for continuing the rise in exam success at Thomas Bennett Community College.”
