A-levels: Results delight for new headteacher

More than half of the A-level students (51 per cent) achieved passing grades of A*-B, while 67 per cent of BTEC Level 3 students were graded as Distinction or Distinction*.

The Rev Chrissie Millwood described the results as “superb”.

She added: “I am extremely proud of the students, who deserve the highest praise for all their hard work, commitment and success.

“I would also like to pay tribute to all the teachers and support staff whose dedication and skill has enabled these students to shine.”

Students will now take their places at the Royal Veterinary College and Imperial College, London as well as the Rolls Royce Sponsored Degree programme and a variety of other universities.

One has earned a footballing scholarship at an American University.

Among the top performers were:

Shona Hickey, with four A* grades, Samuel Lashwood, with four A* grades, Chaahat Shah, with three A* grades, David McGill, with two A*’s and two A grades, Christopher Walker, with two A*’s and two A grades.

Ellis Wilson earned two Distinction*’s and two C’s, Anushka Sabapara earned two Distinction*’s and Arielle Johnson earned one A* and three A’s.

Rev Millwood said: “I am delighted that every single one of our students leaving school this year is progressing either to Higher and Further Education or entering employment, training or apprenticeships.

“All the staff are thrilled for them and wish them every success and happiness in the next stage of their education and career choice.”

Dawn Chubb, director of learning for the Sixth Form, said: “With 51 per cent A*-B, this is a set of excellent results; there is much to celebrate.

“As a school we are proud of our students who have worked tirelessly throughout their secondary career; this is the culmination of their years of hard work.

“This is a major achievement for a comprehensive school cemented by a strong Christian ethos reflected in the dedication and hard work of all staff to help students achieve this level of results and provide the support young people require throughout secondary school.”
