The defender had an injury-hit two seasons at the club but has played their opening two pre-season games, hoping to earn a new contract.

On Tuesday he scored a fantastic goal during Reds’ convincing 6-0 win at Three Bridges, but this was not enough to earn him a new deal.

Head coach Dermot Drummy said: “Lanre is going to be moving on. I have said to him he can train with us and keep fit until he finds a club.

“Wonderful lad, it’s just one of those situations in football I’ve just got to make that decision based on the numbers I’ve got in that position.

“It’s disappointing for him, but it happens. We’ll recommend him to a few clubs as a good character and I’m sure he will get back in.

“It’s happened to me, it’s happened to others and I am sure he will pick himself up and find another club. It’s sad he’s going to move on but we wish him well.”
