A Team GB gold medallist will be on hand to officially open the new Aldi store in Crawley.

Olympic hockey star Sophie Bray will join the mayor of Crawley at the ribbon cutting of the store at Acorn Retail Park in Betts Way on Thursday, November 24.

The new store has created 30 jobs.

Sam Haslam, Aldi store manager, said: “We’re pleased to be opening the Crawley store and are excited to welcome Sophie Bray.

“We are confident that our customers will enjoy the Golden Ticket event along with the great Specialbuy offers available in store.”

Sophie was part of the gold medal-winning Great Britain women’s national field hockey team that triumphed in Brazil earlier this year.

Opening at 8am, the first 100 people in the queue will receive golden envelopes, each containing a prize.

Lucky customers will be in with the chance of winning a variety of prizes including a 4K Smart TV, a SAT NAV, Bluetooth Sound Bar and bags of Aldi shopping.

Milton Mount Primary School Choir will also be attending the store opening and will sing Christmas carols for customers to enjoy.

The Crawley store will be donating £250 to the group to support its activities in the community.

It will be open between 8am and 10pm Monday to Saturday and between 10am and 4pm on Sundays.
