Montell, who works as a Sporting Champion, delivered some inspiring words during the opening ceremony: “I’m really humbled as an athlete to be here today.

“I remember when I first started out in sport, the excitement and the buzz that I relished in. I realise now that’s where it all started for me, and your journey is no different to mine, it’s just in a different place. The opportunity I’ve been given to see you start your journey is a blessing in itself. Remember, if you don’t win today, you can win tomorrow.”

The School Games is backed by National Lottery funding from Sport England & the Youth Sport Trust and sponsored by Active Sussex Corporate partners: Freedom Leisure and University of Chichester.
